Matching…what is it all about?

Filip de Geijter

Gent. Matching has been used for many years in the HRM space and often recruiters would say: ‚we found a match‘ when they would find candidates who live in a certain predefined area, or have some specific education.
But..is this really matching? Is this the reason why you would use the complex and fascinating matching technology just to find candidates who live within a certain geographical area? Surely not! But unfortunately, the real potential of matching has remained unexplored for a long time within the HRM space.

Many recruiters know matching systems, and use location, industry and salary conditions as matching criteria. This way of working however does certainly not give a flattering view on candidates – they are so much more than just a few ‚keywords‘!  Candidates and recruiters expect more of matching!

And this is why a new generation of matching technology was born : Actonomy’s matching technology which takes into account what candidates really want, what their preferences are and who they are as a person!

The matching technology of Actonomy does in-depth analysis of candidate profiles and applies many criteria to define what is important for a candidate, which is so much more than a just few keywords that can be found in one’s profile. And all this information is used to match with vacancies!

In the first place, matching rules are applied in order to find out what people do:

  •     Which sector are they working in (or would they wish to work )
  •     Which education do they have
  •     Where do they want to work
  •     What is their experience
  •     Which salary do they expect

And in the second place, Actonomy includes the following aspects in the matching process:

  • We take into account what jobseekers want (maybe someone has a sales driven profile but wants to switch to marketing)
  • We think of a possible career path (a Sales Manager can become an Area Sales Manager)
  • We evaluate a person’s needs when it comes to soft competences and skills
  • We understand the broader meaning of competences (‘competence expansion’)

By adding these criteria to the matching process, Actonomy ensures accurate, fast and effective matching between candidates and jobs.
