Where do Employees Want to Work? 50 Answers from Indeed
Indeed, the world’s number one job site, debuted today the 50 top companies to work for, curated from Indeed’s millions of company reviews. Some of the best reviewed companies are known for challenging industry status quo through innovative business models – also known as “disruptors.”
Cloud company Salesforce, well known for disrupting the software-as-a-service (SaaS) space, took the top spot. The top ten also includes airline innovator Southwest Airlines (#2) and Silicon Valley giants Google (#6) and Apple (#9).
“It turns out that companies willing to challenge old school business models also are willing to extend this philosophy to their corporate culture and benefits,” said Paul D’Arcy, senior vice president at Indeed. “Millennials, now the largest percentage of the workforce, prefer working for industry disruptors and their progressive cultures, which provide things like flexible work arrangements, flat organizational structures and on-site amenities.”
Disruptors aren’t totally overshadowing industry stalwarts though, with companies such as The J.M. Smucker Company (#6), Eli Lilly (#7) and Ford Motor Company (#15) in the top 20.
“Although traditional companies are currently lagging behind their newer peers, today’s tight labor market has encouraged companies to evolve their benefits and perks, like offering unlimited paid time off and extended parental leave, as a way to compete for talent,” said D’Arcy.
